Grass Hut celebrates 5 years of rad art by moving into a NEW beautiful art/studio/gatherin’ space on the corner of 4th and couch in Downtown Portland.

There’s no better way to celebrate than to have local scholar and shredding painter Ryan Bubnis have his first solo show at GH. Ryan will have new works of his organic spaced out folk heads on wood and paper, and a brand new print release brought to you by Hungry Eyeball. let’s celebrate, eat some berries, drink something cold, connect with friends, and check out some rad art.

September 1st-30th at the new GH located on the corner of 4th and Couch in Downtown Northwest Portland (400 NW Couch St). Show opens First Thursday September 1st from 6-9pm. Online preview sometime Wednesday the day before. Hope to see you at Grass Hut this September.

Oh… first 20 or so peeple through the door at the opening will get grab bags of awesome!.

bonus points-
We will be hosting a book release for Sergej Vutuc on September 10th from 6-8pm at the new Grass Hut.
He’s skated all the way from Germany and other lands just to share his new epic hardbound book of photography, skate and otherwise. Deep pools and thick rich tones and packed into this melee of punk and skate photography. Stop by and hang out with Sergej.

what’s new gazoo?

We moved gol darnit! We are now on the corner of 4th and couch. but instead of being sorta near the corner and stashed away in a secret lair. We are really right on a corner. You can even see into our shop from the corner of 4th and couch, open a door and GH and floating world are right there. Getting in some new toys soon in our new digs, new and old biskup prints and arts and toys and settling in. next week we have our first opening. It’s a Ryan Bubnis Solo show! Now if you want some more action, our friend Brent Wick has a solo show at together gallery over on alberta tonight.

Wired watch action.

So our friend Kiyoka Ikeda of gargamel is considered kind of an icon in Japan. Seiko Japan’s Wired followed him to comic con with a small film crew. Some fothe grass hut guys including myself, martin ontiveros, and Le merde got to breathe a bit of kiyoka’s magic dust. We got to do interviews with Wired, and bonus points- we all got killer watches. Nothing like a hillbilly with bling. Thanks Kiyoka, koji, and seiko. Check out their site full of radness.

this video shreds, and bonus points so does AJ who has a piece in our balls out show. Which is somehow “hint” still available.
