These books changed the graphic design industry forever. They allow us to break free from expectations, from computer screens and from the “correct” way of doing things. These books are proof that the human touch, the imperfections, areĀ valuable. They are proof that artists are wonderful designers and designers are wonderful artists.
Mike Perry created these books, that’s why we invited him to have an art show at Grass Hut.
Mike Perry’s Giant Zine show has an awesome concept!!! All the framed art hanging on the gallery walls is also printed (uncolored) and bound into Giant Zines.
The Show Opens July 3rd, 6-10pm. Grass Hut 811 E Burnside. BE THERE!!!

If you want extra credit though, be sure to come to the Book Signing / Q&A session / Motivational Speech / Coloring Book Party Wed July 1st, 6-9pm.
Mike’s coming to town and the Ace hotel is hooking him up, we love the Ace.

Portland is a river city; many of us lay our eyes daily upon the mighty Willamette and Columbia rivers. Yet, deep below the city’s surface runs another river, one that few have heard of and even fewer have seen. It’s a mysterious body of water that some say has the power to heal the sick, to make the old young again, to give the impotent a boner. It’s a magical place known as Zine River.
Another well-kept secret: the IPRC has a secret passageway to this amazing river of creativity. Our fearless Membership Coordinator Lori D has been down there for months, paddling the Zine River on a homemade raft, seeking out underground artists and zinesters to take part in this special benefit art show. Join us for the opening reception on Friday June 26th at 7pm, and take your own wild ride down the Zine River.

PDX is under one of the hooves because Portland, Oregon where we made this toy with love.

Dickbird and Scrappers used the one-minute-space-painting trick to paint a new mural over J. Otto’s mural.
Come on by and see it in the raw!

I think we will fire up the BBQ for this one. Should be lots of funs.
We’ll have hotdogs and corn for the grill and dan our tea man will have some lovely teas made just for the show. Time and space inspired.
And we’ll have some soda and beer too, but feel free to bring anything extra you want thrown on the grill.
